Angel

A cry in the night
A lone man sings
A heart wrenching sound
An Angel clipped of her wings

A tearing of the soul
A tear streaked face
A heart lying broken
An Angel in disgrace

A lover absconded
A lover scorned
A beauty bereft
An Angel unadorned

A darkness encroaching
A numbing of the heart
A deadening of the soul
An Angel torn apart

Moon Song

The clouds drift in the evening sky
The crescent Moon is alight
Stars shimmering against an indigo backdrop
The world aglow with the coming of night
A vision in blue perches gently on the Moon
Long ebony hair clasped behind her ear
Her pale full lips are parted in song
Her voice, like bells, ringing clear
Her song is one full of heartbreak and woe
Not a single moment of mirth
Pain expressed in a haunting tale
As crystalline tears fall to the Earth
Nightly she sits there mourning her lover
Her dear friend, whose soul did depart
Never again will she see his face
Though his memory lives on in her heart

Loss

The young girl stares straight ahead
Eyes seeing nothing, her heart is filled with dread
Her stomach is full of butterflies ,as the adrenaline floods her veins
She doesn’t know what to think even, her head is full of pain
She takes her seat in the waiting room, her turn she’s sure is next
She has this sinking feeling right in her very chest
The nurse calls out her name and she jumps a little with fright
Her memories all come flooding back, all images of that night
She takes her clothes off gingerly and steps into the hospital gown
She turns around to face the bed and slowly lays herself down
Her heart is thumping through her chest, her soul is dying inside
Never has she felt this way as hot tears she tries to hide
The doctor walks into the room, not even glancing her way
Its just another job to him, another client who’ll pay
Her legs are spread before him, humiliation to add to pain
The nurse looks at her briefly as though wanting someone to blame
Her world shrinks and shimmers as the sedative pulses in her blood
Her future is suddenly ripped from her with only a little flood
She wakes to find it over, her aching belly a void
She puts her hands upon her heart, her world forever destroyed.

Lovers

Lovers sighs
Lovers groans
Lovers kisses
Lovers moans
Lovers meet under pale moon
Lovers embrace will end too soon
Lovers hands reach out to touch
Lovers eyes say so much
Lovers need no words spoken
Lovers need no earthly token
Lovers hearts entwined together
Lovers need goes on forever
Lovers parting is bittersweet
Lovers know they’ll never meet

Freedom

She steps onto the sand
As her eyes sweep across the sea
She knows she is happy
She knows she is free
A cool wind caresses her soul
As it softly lashes her hair
Her thoughts are pure and bright
And for darkness she doesn’t not care
For when she’s with these things she loves
The earth, the stars, the sky
The moon she loves so very much
Such beauty makes her cry
Her tears are not for sadness
Nor are they for pain
Her tears are for all joyful things
And are never shed in vain

The Darkness Inside

The darkness inside rushes out
Knocks those over who dare stand in the way
Blackens their soul as it seeps in
Never again see the light of the day
An aching void is left behind
It blackens out the sun
Nothing ever grows there
The war inside was won
Past mistakes weigh heavily
The price you had to pay
Nothing seems to make any sense
And you’ve never had your say
The minutes pass like hours
The void begins to ache
You wander through the darkness
This beast you have to break
You feel its torment daily
its scars, upon your mind
you long to climb out of yourself

drags you into the abyss

Little One

The sky is awash with a golden hue
The air filled with the first breath of spring
The trees are reaching heavy branches out
As the birds in their nests start to sing

A young woman picks flowers in the meadow
The warmth of the day at her back
Her basket is full with her pickings
As ducks in the pond start to quack

Her raven locks move gently in the breeze
Every gesture she makes full of grace
She lifts her face up to the glowing sky
And basks in the golden embrace

Her heart is full of joy and love
Her smile lit up from within
She places her hands on her burgeoning belly
New life, soon will it bring

Placing a blossom behind her ear
She lifts her voice in a song
A lullaby carries off through the air
While the child inside grows strong.

The Pain Inside

I am torn open,
Laid bare before my soul
Rent and reeling,
Pain devouring me whole

Agony coiled tight
Wound up inside my heart
I feel I can’t hold on
This pain is tearing me apart

Blood spills out upon cold stones
My wounds are open and raw
Pain is searing into me
Where once I held such awe

I’m stumbling through this darkness,
Desperate to find my way out
