Not A Star

Sometimes your heart just hurts when you think about
How you’re not a blazing star in the sky.
How your soul is not on fire against the blackness of the night.
You’re just one of the billions of faded, tiny pinpoints,
Barely visible, washed out in the noise of the world.

The End Of Life As We Knew It

She shimmered under his gaze
Like a shivering glow of light
That radiated through her soul
And twinkled like stars in the night

Her body turned to liquid
From his hands upon her skin
Her frozen heart had melted
It unlocked and let him in

His kiss blazed through her like fire
A dizzying, burning flame
That tore right through her being
And life would never be the same

17 Again

The cool breeze broke over me
In waves like caresses
I shivered as though he touched me
But it was only the air
Another aching reminder
Of his absence in my life
Another whisper of memory
Of all that once was
I longed to go back and hold him
To right the wrongs I did
But life moves one way only
And we can’t be 17 again..
