Light pours in and burns our eyes
Tears blurring faces before us,
Smudges of colour and wavering lines
With murmured voices and accusing tones
We hold fast against them,
Hearts wrapped tightly around whispered promises
Hands cradling sweet confessions
To ward off the void
But sometimes we feel so lonely,
Like a light flickering in an empty room
We binge on broken promises,
On poison tongued confessions
In rooms where mirrors
Reveal monsters
And the broken
Are made Gods.

Breathless
And in a moment of pure agony
The broken pieces of my soul shattered,
They pierced my heart
And rent my lungs,
Leaving me breathless
And bleeding on the ground.
The broken pieces of my soul shattered,
They pierced my heart
And rent my lungs,
Leaving me breathless
And bleeding on the ground.
A Little Too Broken
Are you a little too broken?
Do you still even care?
Are you lost inside your own mind,
On the brink of utter despair?
Is your heart wounded and aching?
Your soul diminished in the dark?
Do your hands bear the scars,
From your grasping at the spark?
Do you hide away from living?
Too weak to put on a show,
Are you exhausted by the movement,
The constant ebb and flow?
Are you defeated by the anguish
The pain, that is all around?
Too broken by the living
To even stand your ground..
Do you still even care?
Are you lost inside your own mind,
On the brink of utter despair?
Is your heart wounded and aching?
Your soul diminished in the dark?
Do your hands bear the scars,
From your grasping at the spark?
Do you hide away from living?
Too weak to put on a show,
Are you exhausted by the movement,
The constant ebb and flow?
Are you defeated by the anguish
The pain, that is all around?
Too broken by the living
To even stand your ground..

Broken
I broke against your kisses
And crumbled to the floor
Blood pounded in my ears
And I knew I wanted more
And though my lips were bleeding
Just like my torn up heart
You kissed me with a fierceness
That split my soul apart
And crumbled to the floor
Blood pounded in my ears
And I knew I wanted more
And though my lips were bleeding
Just like my torn up heart
You kissed me with a fierceness
That split my soul apart

The Shore
And there on the edges of
Some distant broken shore
I poured my life into
An empty shell,
It glistened as it whispered
Soft and haunting lies
With a soothing breath
That shivered down my spine
And flayed me open,
To expose to the elements all the
Secrets tangled like seaweed,
Bones bleached like driftwood,
Soul scrubbed raw over buoyant
Waves and rough sand, and a
Heart lying bleeding
Among shards of broken glass…
Some distant broken shore
I poured my life into
An empty shell,
It glistened as it whispered
Soft and haunting lies
With a soothing breath
That shivered down my spine
And flayed me open,
To expose to the elements all the
Secrets tangled like seaweed,
Bones bleached like driftwood,
Soul scrubbed raw over buoyant
Waves and rough sand, and a
Heart lying bleeding
Among shards of broken glass…

Remnants
She reached down into the void
Fingertips grazing his in a futile attempt
At holding on
As the darkness divided them further
She pulled back her hands
They were dripping with blood
And in them she cradled
The broken remnants of her heart
Fingertips grazing his in a futile attempt
At holding on
As the darkness divided them further
She pulled back her hands
They were dripping with blood
And in them she cradled
The broken remnants of her heart

A Kiss Like This
I breathed you in,
Scent of silvery moonlight
As my fingers trailed your spine,
Blankets tossed like the sea around us,
Your soft skin gleamed in the pale light,
Shadows upon the wall
Told a turbulent story,
My fingers ached to travel the map of you,
To read you like braille,
Wanting to know the tale of your scars,
You reached for me with gentle hands
Your tenderness belying your strength,
Lips soft like pillows brushed feathery traces
Upon my cheeks,
Pressed against my lips and kissed
My very soul..
Scent of silvery moonlight
As my fingers trailed your spine,
Blankets tossed like the sea around us,
Your soft skin gleamed in the pale light,
Shadows upon the wall
Told a turbulent story,
My fingers ached to travel the map of you,
To read you like braille,
Wanting to know the tale of your scars,
You reached for me with gentle hands
Your tenderness belying your strength,
Lips soft like pillows brushed feathery traces
Upon my cheeks,
Pressed against my lips and kissed
My very soul..
